Overview
The Burren College of Art is located on Ireland’s western coast a few kilometers inland from the village of Ballyvaughan (population 258). Ballyvaughan is located between Galway and the Cliffs of Moher which makes it a prime location for tourism. Ballyvaughan is situated in a region called Burren and is known for its archeological sites including megalithic tombs, caves, forts and castles. In fact the Burren College of Art has its own restored castle on campus.

The college was founded in 1993 and focuses on print, photography, digital art, woodworking, stone working, and metalworking. Students take 5 courses per semester. The college is quite small and services a total of 40 students and visiting artists at a time. Students can participate in an optional faculty-led trip to London (Fall) or Berlin (Spring). A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required.
Housing
Campus housing is available and the school provides a lunch-based meal plan. Students can prepare meals in their campus-based housing or purchase meals in Ballyvaughan's restaurants.
Dates
The university can accept students for both fall and spring semesters. Fall semester is mid September to mid January, Spring semester is February to mid June.
